Vision

Why trust infrastructure matters

Informal economies

Much of economic activity across Uganda and Africa runs on relationships, referrals and reputation. Whether through SACCOs, stages, neighbourhood networks or word of mouth, trust exists—but it is local and difficult to transfer.

That works within communities, but it does not scale to insurers, employers, lenders, logistics firms or customers beyond a person's immediate network.

CVT transforms verified facts into portable trust, enabling people to carry their identity, qualifications and standing with them wherever opportunities arise.

Uganda and Africa

CVT is designed for African realities.

Identity systems, informal work and community-based relationships shape how people earn a living. Millions of people provide transport, trade, technical services, healthcare and domestic work without access to portable records or recognised reputations.

Built around channels people already use—WhatsApp, mobile phones and lightweight web experiences—CVT creates trusted digital identities that are accessible even in low-bandwidth environments.

Starting in Uganda, the model can extend across Africa, where informal work represents the majority of economic activity and traditional credit systems reach only a fraction of the population.

Transport is the first pilot

Commercial mobility is CVT's starting point, not its destination.

The first implementation focuses on boda bodas, taxis and special hire vehicles in Kampala. These sectors present clear trust challenges and benefit from verification, accountability and public visibility.

Over time, the same infrastructure can support other categories of service providers, including:

  • Plumbers
  • Electricians
  • Mechanics
  • Nurses and caregivers
  • Nannies and domestic workers
  • Security personnel
  • Freelancers and small businesses

Anyone providing a service to the public should be able to build a trusted profile and demonstrate their qualifications, experience and standing.

Insurance before credit

Trust Profile v1 emphasises insurer-grade signals—verification, training, insurance continuity and moderated conduct—before any credit or bureau integration.

Insurance enables risk pooling and creates incentives for responsible behaviour.

Credit scoring is a separate, highly regulated programme and remains outside the scope of early versions of CVT.

Long-term vision

What LinkedIn did for professional networks, CVT aims to do for trust in everyday work.

CVT provides:

  • A verified registry of people and services.
  • A timeline of trusted facts and achievements.
  • Consent-based sharing with employers, insurers and partners.
  • Positive incentives that reward long-term good standing.
  • Rehabilitation mechanisms so mistakes do not permanently destroy reputations.

The goal is not to replace relationships, but to make trust portable.

Our belief

People should own their reputation.

Trust should be earned, explainable and transferable.

Transport is not our business.
Trust, visibility and accountability are.
